Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

The Inventory Specialist (I.S) reports to the Capacity & Order Planning Manager. The role is vital to the delivery of service excellence and fulfillment of customer needs. The I.S is responsible for planning and control of the inbound material flow into the business. Working with nominated suppliers the I.S will ensure accurate planning and expedition of material in order to ensure ongoing production. In addition, the I.S will manage the inventory levels within the business in order to ensure cash flow and working capital targets are achieved.

Main responsibilities of the I.S will include ;

  • Inventory policy and parameter management

  • Management of the replenishment cycle

  • Continuous development of supplier relationships

  • Development of a standardized supplier management process

  • Create supplier purchase orders

  • Measurement of inventory performance

  • Measurement of supplier performance aligned with the Supply Chain Manager

  • Expedite late, low stock or shortage materials

  • Support as necessary stock accuracy initiatives within the business.

  • Inventory analysis - for example speed of movement, and excess and obsolete stock.

  • Continuous improvement of the inventory planning and management capability

  • Any other reasonable request commensurate with the role

Preferred Skills

The role is primarily technical and analytical but does require a range of behavioural competencies. Those include but are not restricted to the following;

  • Pro-active attitude and excellent time management skills

  • High I.T. competency including (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and also ERP.


The successful candidate is likely to possess some or all of the following experience;

  1. Minimum of 2 years inventory experience or supplier management experience

  2. Understanding of Navision including report creation.

  3. Knowledge of inventory drivers (e.g. safety stock, service level, variability, lead time)

  4. Inventory planning systems awareness

  5. Manufacturing experience including reading drawings.
