Manufacturing Manager

Production Manager

Salary - £70 - £75K p.a

 

Working closely with cross-functional departments, the role involves managing production teams, maintaining compliance with GMP and ISO standards, optimizing resource use, and driving continuous improvement. The Manufacturing Manager also plays a key role in staff development, performance management, and supporting recruitment activities.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage internal production teams.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Warehouse, and Planning departments to ensure efficient and continuous production.
  • Ensure full compliance with company quality standards, including ISO, GMP, and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Uphold GMP standards, policies, and practices as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee the induction process for all new employees—temporary or permanent—in line with the Company Safety Policy.
  • Ensure Team Leaders and Production Operatives are trained in accordance with SOPs and company policies.
  • Conduct accurate and timely stock checks in collaboration with Stock Control.
  • Foster a culture of accountability by empowering staff to take ownership of their responsibilities, with regular feedback and performance expectations.
  • Review and assess the performance of Team Leaders and production staff.
  • Organise and supervise overtime production as needed, ensuring appropriate oversight and support.
  • Prepare regular reports on production performance, including daily outputs, downtime, work centre utilisation, and weekly timesheets.
  • Collaborate with HR to recruit, interview, and hire appropriate staff as required.
  • Effectively manage the use of agency staff to ensure cost-efficiency and operational continuity.

 

Candidate Criteria:

 

  • Degree-qualified or equivalent in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Significant leadership experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in lean manufacturing and driving cultural change.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and CAD tools.
  • Proven experience in a similar Manufacturing Manager role.
  • Strong track record of managing and leading production teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a production team.
  • Experience in driving and implementing in-house cultural change initiatives.
