Job Description

Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Manager

Candidate Criteria:

** Quality qualification, to degree level or equivalent through experience.

** Formal Quality Degree, with a bias toward general management.

** Previous Quality Management experience within an engineering or manufacturing concern.

** In depth experience in a similar role, working within the rail or electrical industries. :

** Understanding of ISO14001 & ISO45001 requirements.

** Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

** ProgressPlus and Sage software packages. Microsoft Office, FMEA process.

Duties:

** Fully responsible for the Quality Management System

** Full responsibility for finished product inspection and testing, ensuring full compliance with company and customer expectations.

  • Ensure that quality standards and requirements are being maintained.
  • Take the lead and manage PPAPs as required.
  • Take the lead and manage calibration as required.

** Regular internal audits.

** Represent the company during customer quality audits.

Represent the company during ISO9001 audits, and ensure full compliance with all requirements.

Health, Safety & Environment • Work towards the Company gaining accreditation and approval in terms of ISO 14001(Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management)

  • Ensure effective day to day implementation and active management of the Company’s Health and Safety Policies.
  • Ensure that accidents, incidents and hazards are recorded and reported and investigated in accordance with company policy and that appropriate corrective action is taken.
  • Encourage staff to report hazards, Near Misses and raise health and safety concerns and that they are thoroughly investigated and, where necessary, further effective controls are implemented and communicated to staff.
  • Take full responsibility for managing COSHH within the company, and take any remedial steps to mitigate risks.
  • Carry out Health, Safety and Environment Risk Assessments, and introduce steps to reduce and minimise risks.
  • Support the Managing Director and Senior Management Team (SMT) to ensure that all Company Occupational Health and Environmental policies, procedures and regulations are followed, are effective and fit for purpose.
  • Compile and report monthly strategic imperatives (KPls) relative to your Department. • Compile and report on Departmental targets, objectives and forecasts.
  • Effectively contribute and have an input to the Strategic Action Plan of the Business.
  • Encourage the development of personnel within your team, and that they are competent and adequately trained to perform their duties. • Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility (laptop, mobile, etc.).
